The following story is not fiction. It has been taken up from the history of medieval India.

Once upon a time a Mugahal Badshah ruled over a small part of India. He was cruel and had no religious tolerance. He was a staunch follower of Islam and could not see relevance of other religions. He was rather fanatic as far as religious matters were concerned. Public was not happy during his reign. Nobody knew what would make Badshah angry and when. So people lived in perpetual fear. Though everybody suffered in his country; the conditions of Hindu saints were the worst. They were made captive and humiliated in different ways. Life was indeed very difficult for them.

One day a Hindu ascetic was captured from his ashram and was brought to the court of the Badshah. He was in for cruel treatment. The Badshah wanted to defile him by making him drink urine. So the sadhu was tied to chains. The court was all set to execute this. But the Badshah wanted to enjoy every moment of this spectacle. A court dancer was called and drinks were served to all the courtiers who were enjoying themselves. Dance began and everybody was enjoying oneself except the poor saint. He was seeing the impending doom. His eyes were showing his helplessness. He was in a pitiable condition. At that time even death was a luxury to him. How he wished to die than suffer at the hands of cruel king. The dancer was observing all this. She resolved to help the poor soul; no matter what cost she would have to pay for it. Her first dance was finished with loud applause. Everybody was ready for the second performance. She started second dance which was to be performed by holding daggers in both hands. Everybody, including the Badshah, was feeling so ecstatic that they began to forget their surroundings. Party was at its peak. Tears were rolling down the cheeks of the sadhu. The prostitute came near him while dancing and smashed both daggers in his stomach. The sadhu was full of gratitude; his expression betrayed his feelings before he collapsed.
