Democracy and Freedom

There is no good dictator and there never was a good dictator, perhaps, some dictator was more benevolent than was another dictator but the, fact of the matter was and is that the only one that wants to live under any dictator is the dictator himself or herself.

I think that it is troubling when an intelligent being says that some people some where because of their culture or religion or their heritage or their history or their education or their lack of education naturally means that those people cannot or will not be able to understand that a good democratic form of government is better to live under than is there in-place autocratic or dictatorial form of government that is holding them hostage now.

You can go to any country in the world and ask the most illiterate people there in a very private location if after explaining to them what the basic concept of democracy is that if they would rather live democratically or under that dictator they would choose to live under democracy.

A bad or a terrible democratic despot is not any better for anyone to live under, either. However, it is not fair to say that a democratic form of government is going to lead any country to live under such a despot until at least that country is given a fair chance at making its own wishes felt. Some democratic governments though not perfect by a long shot are better than any dictatorship ever was and some democratic governments need a lot of improvement to make them as good as it possibly can be.

I think that anybody that lives in America and in all other free and democratic countries of the world should make their business to see to it that all countries that are living under some form of dictatorship should at least get the chance to chose for themselves what kind of a government they wish to live under. I think if we were forced to live under a dictator for one day in our lives that we would soon hurry on back to our own democratic shores as fast as our legs could carry us.

Yes, I don’t want Americans or Canadians or Australians and all of those other democratic run countries to lose their or our lives in some third world country somewhere or another but isn’t it also true that if it were us or our family and our friends who were being brutally oppressed wouldn’t we want someone to come to their and our rescue?

Thanks for the information on the people of Zimbabwe–very sad
It seems the only freedom any human can have is before birth and after death, everthing in between someone is trying to control your freedom

But the thing is that why would 1st world countries lend their helping hand to the 3rd world when they are doing quite well by the 'divide and rule' policy?

I don’t think people in democratic countries try to perpously divide and concur
The people in so called free countries can change the direction of a country A dictator stays for life and then passes it on to family or friends

If i talk about freedom then obviously will agree that the dictatorship is the worst. People should have the freedom to do what he wants till the time he is not doing anything offensive.....but to let them live on someone else's rules is ridiculous.

Is not the parliamentary democracy a form of dictatorship? It’s the dictatorship of state on people. In both the forms people have to live by the rules framed by somebody else. Parliamentary democracy is a form of dictatorship in which minority of ruling class (which is the representative of bourgeois capitalist class) dictates the people.

Thanks for your input
You are talking like your enjoying the benifets of your dictator and though brainwashing feel you owe your father image gratitude for what was rightfully your in the first lace
In a democracy people vote in and out their evil but dictators hold on and pass on their control
No one human should have the right to control others lives and treat them like children that never grow up

We can’t endorse the dictatorship of any kind. Even in the communist countries leaders claim that there is dictatorship of majority over minority which is not bad. A dictatorship is nothing but dictatorship. No question of majority or minority.

You are right ,the dictators or communist leaders are always talking as if the majority would agree with them
Life is short and we should all have an opportunity to think for ourselfs and through elected government decide the fate of the majority even thought it is not perfect

Nobody can deny the importance of democracy but what to do with a democracy where common men are just the voters and actual power vests in the hands of land lords and big industrialists. It is happening with most of the parliamentary democracies in the world.

Thanks for you time
Aly i can name many ordinary people who got voted to the top and fell
They at least had a chance ,but people who are suppressed for long periods of time are blinded by that and feel they can’t survive without super dad taking care of them
We humans were all born equal and all should enjoy the same freedoms

I think democracy means, buy the people, off the people and far the people. It’s the most suited definition for parliamentary form of democracy.

There is only 1 once of happiness and if one can acquire that once than it doesn’t matter what country you live in
