I think that most of us in our very beginnings were taught the importance of believing in God or Jesus or Allah, or Moses or other very prominent personage or form. I think that we were taught very early on that if we didn’t believe this or that that we would be punished by being sent to hell or a very similar place and that we were taught very early on that if we did believe and that if we were very good believers that we would be favored by being sent to heaven or a like place. I think that we were brainwashed to a greater or lesser extent throughout our childhood and beyond. I think that unless you are below the age of four that it is too late for you or any of us to totally remove that (now) solid imprint from our brains. Oh, we can all try out the newest fad cult or we can all change our spots, so to speak, but at the very end when death comes knocking at our own door I believe that that initial belief system will automatically force itself upon our minds.
I think the reason most believers consistently remember the part about love and forgiveness and fairness and equality for all of believers in their belief system is that is what they want to remember because when they were children they thought like most all children do. They believe in fairies and white knights in shining armor and they believe in good guys always beating the bad guys and they believe that their parents or their caregivers would never have taught them any thing that could ever bring harm to them or to their souls.
I think that the adult mind is always innately filled with the thoughts of the child that prominently and tenaciously resides there. I think that fear and its many forms dictate to us the strategy, which directs our every conscious impulse. I think fear is the key ingredient to all religions and beliefs systems that I’m aware of, bar none.
I think that another reason we remember only the good parts of our religious beliefs or non-beliefs is that we “just want to”. It’s kind of like when somebody dies and everyone says and remembers the “good” things about that person even though that somebody was not all that good and was a pain to be around. Yet the effect of death seems to be able to make an evil villain into a most beloved angel. Well, I do hope that that particular phenomenon of death continues at least until I die.
Humans are simply cowards in the face of an uncaring universe.
So they cop-out and create mythology to make themselves feel better.
God and Religion. What a lie?
You may be one of the few that see that but most people are brainwashed from childhood and can’t escape the mind forming
95% of all humans follow the religion or belief and customs of the country they were born in
It is not a conscious decision but a formed one from stroner influences
People are are at least living with peace of mind
thanks
To worship something is as instinctive as drinking water,a person will worship something,i have no doubt about that. people may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, that which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts put on us by others will determine our lives, and our character. therefore, be careful what you worship, for what you are worshipping you are becoming.so in the end it doesn,t matter what you worship because is the same thing as we are all in the universe together, each small piece making up the whole and only can be whole if every piece is in place
I don’t think it started as a conscious effort, but as we evolved into cultures that were controled by the strongest ,they used this venerable part of our makeup for the controlling of their peoples
All religions are journey from ”God with attributes” to ”God without attributes”.It’s journey from ”God with form” to ”God devoid of form (read formlessness)”.
Before you realize that life is nothingness or pure consciousness there are several stages.Religions merely let you know the steps but realization is beyond religious scriptures.
Small children are taught that ”A” stands for Apple even though it’s not the ultimate truth. However,it serves the purpose.Religions, customs, beliefs etc.also do the same. They give you the elementary knowledge, making us capable of apprehending the highest truth-NOTHINGNESS.In other words, don’t ignore the importance of religion in our lives if we are really interested in shattering the illusion called life

Your showing some of your cultural brainwashing by your answer to Jamie’s answer
If one believes in a religion because it was forced on one because of their position on earth than the belief should be ones reward
My dear friend my response to Jamie is not byproduct of cultural brainwashing.I am just trying to speak in the language used by Jamie with same sense of logic used by Jamie. If believers in God can be ”complete morons” why can’t the non-believers be hailed as ”greater morons”?
It is because by using the term greater morons ,you are using emotion that was a bias formed by your culture
If one had no bias for religion then they wouldn’t allow emotion to come in

There are only people that are mind formed by the stronger infuances in their lives
People can’t escape that so are not to blame but the blame goes to our venerable soft tissue that knows it can die in an instant
The moron in this case is the evolution of nature
thanks
The non-believers-the minority- are GREATER morons.
