Tobacco, America’s whipping boy!

It seems that Americans do not care to smoke for one reason or another reason and Americans that dislike tobacco products in any form and Americans that feel that they are made to suffer personally or second handedly and Americans that just don’t like to see other people smoking or snuffing or chewing tobacco feel that it is their right to make tobacco product users and manufacturers their whipping boy or their own personal cash cow.

Tobacco is made to pay for all of our American health issues and our health agencies shortfalls, already, Yet now, tobacco is going to be forced by law to pay more for their personal health care than are beer, wine, whiskey drinkers and manufacturers, and over-eaters, under-eaters, poor vehicle drivers, law-breakers of all kinds, and the out-of-shape people do have to pay.

I think that if you want to tax tobacco products more to help defray health cost do it but also raise the tax on whiskey, wine, beer and on food heavy with bad fat and on vehicle drivers and on those industries that are more health dangerous than are other safer industries.

Raise the tax on the accident prone of our society and the sicklier of us too and lets not forget to raise the tax on our soldiers and our police and fire people who knowing put themselves in harms way for us every day.

Yes, I think that we do have health issues that we cannot find the monies for now but I think that we all need to pay for them because we all contribute more or less equally to causing them in the first place, Yes, the smoker adds to our health financial woes but doesn’t everyone else add to those woes, as well, throughout their lifetimes at one time or another time? And, isn’t it true that we all take off to our doctors and our hospitals every time our children contracts a little scrape or a little sniffle?

And, don’t we sue our doctors every time anything even remotely seems that it might be a mistake made by them? Isn’t it true that we all tend to force our doctors to give us medicines and tests that they are afraid not to give us because if they happen to get it wrong they face being sued? So, don’t the doctors feel that they must give us those pills and those tests even though medically they don’t think for a minute that we need any of them?

Don’t we all want the doctor to give us a pill for all of our maladies and don’t we all want our loved ones and ourselves to get those examinations and those millions of tests and re-tests so that we will feel better that our loved ones and us didn’t miss anything no matter the costs involved?

I think it isn’t fair to pick on tobacco if we are not going to pick on the hordes of other products and services that too add to our sky-rocketing out-of-control health care woes.

I am for no smoking in all public buildings and public transportation vehicles including indoor and outdoor sports venues, and all public hotels, motels, restaurants and bars!

Yes its the same here wayne you wouldnt believe the tax, i feel sorry for smokers (i gave up few years ago because the tax was ridiculous) and besides the tax now brings in far more money than smokers hospital health costs, and also if smokers die young that means they dont use much pensions of old age and other offsets.

I feel sorry for people who have addictive personalities and cant give up and government taxes them ever increasing ammounts.

Like you say about other issues lets not be disproportionate towards smokers just because its become a politically/morally correct tax cash cow. I see a lot of smokers struggling with their finances and that cant be good for the long term economy if they cant invest in their life.

Im not sure if too much government intervention is a good thing in some areas of managing peoples life for them; or we could become less empowered to make our own health choices with things like eg our food choices or mass medication, and forced health programs, and some people think governments could become a nanny state that thinks its citizens or not smart enough to make their own health choices.

Also i think some of these drugs like tobacco and alchohol or marijuana or kava were used by people in the past instead of modern medicines like aspirin for a headache or stress, so i dont think its right to completely make them illegal or obsolete because some peoples personality might be relaxed by them ....in moderation of course ...i like a little drink of an evening.

I dont like synthetic or refined man made illicit drugs though at all, and i think they are a curse to the human mind and body ...like anabolic steroids, heroin and amphetamines etc.

They are raising the tax to cover expenses because the economy is bad. So they are forcing people to quit smoking to put more people out of work? There will be a lot of healthy people sitting around with no jobs.
